about user defined extensions

Dear users,
I am trying to use the user defined extension? Is it an opengrads only
capability because i am using grads v2.0.a4.oga.1 and
q udct is not valid command.
I have followed the instructions for installing UDE from OpenGrads Wiki
step by step.
My ultimate target is to use pygrads with IPC extension to move data
between python and grads back and forth.
