Stefan,

Grib2 stores all longitudes as positive numbers.  g2ctl simply
reads the left longitude (300) and grids the followin
gird (in my test file)

       ydef 95 linear 43.000000 0.5
       xdef 321 linear 300.000000 0.500000

Your scripts don't anticipate the grid going from 300 to 400 degrees.
Sounds like something that needs to be fixed in g2ctl.
