Hey buddy,
I've compile your program in my computer (PC i386 Linux with gcc 4.2
installed), but when I use gribscan it tells "GRIB header not found.
File apparantly not GRIB data". And grib2ctl.pl tells "either
20080603.txt.grib is missing or not a grib file"

So I wonder if your program have some bug or so?
I haven't do with C so I don't know.
