The best way to deal with grib-2 data is to use GrADS v2 which supports it
natively.  I have implemented a stop gap extension in grads v1.9.0-rc1 that
is able to read grib-2, but this path is not recommended unless you
absolutely must run GrADS v1.9.  Additional information about extensions for
grads v1.9.0-rc1 can be found here:
