Dear Users,
I have followed the indications received to try plotting the Station data example "rain.dat" created using the C code available in the Grads documentation starting from the following .txt file:
Year Month Stid Lat Lon Rainfall
1980 1 QQQ 34.3 -85.5 123.3
1980 1 RRR 44.2 -84.5 87.1
1980 1 SSS 22.4 -83.5 412.8
1980 1 TTT 33.4 -82.5 23.3
1980 2 QQQ 34.3 -85.5 145.1
1980 2 RRR 44.2 -84.5 871.4
1980 2 SSS 22.4 -83.5 223.1
1980 2 TTT 33.4 -82.5 45.5
I first have created the .map file from inside Grads, getting the following result:
ga-> !stnmap -i rain.ctl
Name of binary data set: rain.dat
Number of times in the data set: 2
Number of surface variables: 1
Number of level dependent variables: 0
Starting scan of station data binary file.
Binary data file open: rain.dat
Processing time = 1
Time = 1 has stn count = 1
Processing time = 2
Time = 2 has stn count = 4
Max reports per time: 4 reports at t = 2
Max data elements in largest report: 1
Version 2 Station map file created: rain.map
Then I tried to display either a number or a mark at the station locations, with "set gxout value" and "set gxout stnmark" without success.
When I try to print out the station list I get the following:
ga-> set stat on
ga-> set stnprint on
ga-> d p
Data Type = station
Dimensions = 0 1
I Dimension = 0 to 360
J Dimension = -90 to 90
Stn count = 1
Undef value = -999
Undef count = 0 Valid count = 1
Min, Max = 3.89155e-41 3.89155e-41
Cmin, cmax, cint = -5 5 1
Stats[sum,sumsqr,root(sumsqr),n]: 3.89155e-41 0 0 0
Stats[(sum,sumsqr,root(sumsqr))/n)]: 3.89155e-41 0 0
Stats[(sum,sumsqr,root(sumsqr))/(n-1))]: 3.89155e-41 0 0
Stats[(sigma,var)(n)]: 0 0
Stats[(sigma,var)(n-1)]: 0 0
Printing station values: #obs = 1
OB ID LON LAT LEV VAL
1 Stid La 0 0 -9.99e+33 3.89155e-41
Can anybody please explain what is going wrong and why I cannot see anything else than the world map ?
Quite tricky and difficult to me this Grads, I wonder if I will be never able to plot local shaded maps of SPI data as I have to do in my final goal :-(((
Thanks for your help, regards
Marco
