Arlindo,
I'll look forward to the line thickness fix; line style as well. Once I
understand how to use the object option, it will help me understand
how--if at all--I can link the polygon colors to associated data.
Thanks--

Re: New Win32 Release of GrADS v1.9.0-rc1 (shapefiles)
Stephen,
1) The line thickness in shp_lines is by now a known bug that we will
address in the next release. It does not work for me either. I remember
testing the line color, but never really the line thickness. It needs to
be fixed.
2) About the object option, I'll let Graziano answer this one. When you do
not specify an object, the code loops over *all* objects available in the
shapefile.

Hello Arlindo,
I was able to install this latest release with no problem. I'm glad to see
it now includes shapefile functionality. However, contrary to the included
documentation, using the 'set line...' option appears to have no effect on
either line style or thickness--just color. Unlike the default map
drawing, the shapefile boundaries (when using shp_lines) appear much too
heavy for some uses, especially on screen and for large geographical
areas. I did have "mpdraw" set to off, as instructed. I tried image output
with both primtim and gxyat, with similar results (that is, no change in
line style or thickness). Example of what I did after opening model.ctl:
'set mpdraw off'
'set line 4 1 1'
'shp_lines admin98'
[image displayed as expected, other than polygon line thickness]
'gxyat c:\wx\out\shptest1.png'
'set line 4 3 6'
'shp_lines admin98'
[image displayed same as previous image]
'gxyat c:\wx\out\shptest2.png'
[identical to shptest1.png]
It would be very useful to be able to control line style/thickness.
Perhaps another user can confirm what I got. Assuming it works for you,
do you have any suggestions?
Also, could you point me to an example or two on how to use the shapefile
"object" option. Do I have to create a separate shapefile object, or are
there objects within the included admin98 shape files (for example). If
so, how do I specify one or more objects?
Thanks--

New Win32 Release of GrADS v1.9.0-rc1
All,
I just uploaded to sf.neta new Win32 GrADS release:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=161773&package_id=270750
Notice that Win32 GrADS now has its own packaged called "grads-windows".
See the ChangeLog for additional info.
This version fixes some bugs with DOS-style text files, and includes
Release 2 of the OpenGrADS extensions, with Grib-2 and Shapefile support
(as well as an improved "fish"). To quickly checkout the new features:
Grib-2:
ga-> g2_open ../data/model_25.gdf
ga-> d g2(tmpprs)
or with the % shorthand
ga-> % d tmpprs
Shapefile:
ga-> open ../data/model.ctl
ga-> d ts
ga-> shp_polyf admin98
Fish:
ga-> set lev 200
ga-> d fish_psi(ua,va)
ga-> clear
ga-> d fish_chi(ua,va)
For documentation,
http://opengrads.org/doc/
Let me know of any problems.
Arlindo
