Oooooh, an ensemble dimension. That would really simplify some of my operational scripts!

I am working very hard on getting GrADS 2.0 (with the grib2 interface, a fifth grid dimension for ensembles, and other significant changes) ready for alpha testing. It is close, but I'm sorry I cannot commit to a release date just yet.

Yes I read that a new version of GRADS will support GRIB2, but I have also
read (I think) that it will not be ready before January 28th when NOAA drop
GRIB1.

As compiling cnvgrib on Windows looks like a challenging task, are there
any other options (or will there be before January 28th 2008) available
for reading GRIBS2 files in GRADS running on a Windows platform?

Thanks

Jennifer Adams has made posts in the past there there is a version of
GrADS (or an update to gribmap) in the works which will read GRIB2 data.

One issue we have dealt with is the fact that many national met centers
who produce model data may not or will not switch to GRIB2 format so we
have prepared for both GRIB1 and GRIB2.
