Open TRMM data

Dear all.
I am trying to open TRMM files 3B42RT and is giving to message "Cannot
contour grid - all undefined values"
Someone can help.
I use Linux in ubuntu and in the windows.
The files were downloaded of the address
ftp://disc2.nascom.nasa.gov/data/TRMM/Gridded/3B42RT
including CTL.
