How to set axis labels on LAMBERT displayed map

Sushil,
The GrADS implementation of the Lambert display projection is rather
primitive. I do not know of any systematic way to place lat/lon labels on
Lambert plots. In fact, it has never been clear how to specify the areal
extent of a Lambert plot using 'set mpvals'; this is not documented
anywhere. You just have to use trial and error. You could place axis
labels on a Lambert plot using the 'draw string' command, but this
requires you to specify exactly where to draw the labels, which is
tedious and has to be done separately for each individual plot.
Note that this discussion applies to the Lambert projection used to
DISPLAY data; it is completely independent of the GrADS capability to
handle data that is preprojected on a Lambert grid. The latter
capability is well developed and makes use of the 'pdef' option in the
ctl file.
