Hi Dimitris
i tried it with "degrib" but i got errors
> ./degrib "MPE_20060728_0715_M8_00.grb" -C -msg 1 -Flt -Interp -GrADS
> i got the following error messages
> ERROR: In call to Grib2Convert.

> Un-supported Map Projection 90
then i asked Arthur Taylor - "degrib" author what to do-
here is his answer
Hi,
Degrib is designed to work with the NDFD, and as such works with map
projections used by the NDFD. NDFD uses lambert conformal, polar
stereographic, and mercator map projections, all of which are
supported by degrib. I have also extended degrib to work with lat/
lon (unprojected) map projections, but have not extended it further.
Unfortunately, your map projection (90), is "space view or
orthographic".
That was the next map projection that I wanted to address, but I've
been distracted by a whole series of other projects and I really
can't say when I can address it.
Sorry,
Arthur
