GrADS in batch mode???

Dear all,

I wrote a GrADS script with some calculations in it, i.e. calculating
zonal means.
When I am starting GrADS in batch mode with:

gradsnc -blc "run mycommand.gs" > output.txt &

GrADS still puts its output on the screen. Is there a way to really run
GrADS in the background? I think it would speed up the calculcations
quite a bit.

Thanks for any help and suggestions!

Best regards,
Thomas
