WAFS OCTANT L and PCGRADS-grib2ctl.pl

Hi I am having problems with the WAFS datasets (Octant L) and pcgrads.
Seems like grib2ctl.pl is not recognizing the grib.
ex. wafsgfs_L_t12z_intdsk00
    from ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov
     /pub/data/nccf/com/gfs/prod/gfs.2006050912
ouput:
perl grib2ctl.pl gfs.grb>gfs.ctl
****scripts need to be modified****
unkown user defined grid

os=winxp home sp2
grads 1.8sl11

grib2ctl.pl vers 0.9.12.5p34c

Any other WAFS user out there?
