Derek,

No, you have it correct.
Our GDS is returning java errors regarding 'too many open files'.
As of writting this, we are running a ./cleanup (reboot).  Check back
shortly, this has corrected this problem in the past.

Notice to all users:

If you ever have trouble accessing (server is down, etc.) the data on
GDS servers:
http://nomads.ncdc.noaa.gov:9090/
http://nomads.ncdc.noaa.gov:9091/
Please contact NOMADS.ncdc at noaa.gov directly.
