"Too many open files" on GDS

I've got some problems with my Grads Data Server. Sometimes, much data can't
be accessed, showing the message: "Too many open files". When it happens,
the data stills unavailable until someone reboot the GDS.

Does anyone knows why it happens? How can I solve this problem?
