Problems with stnmap

I have a problem with to obtain graphics of stations data in Grads.
The version is 1.8SL10, 32-bit BIG ENDIAN, the platform is SunOS climatemaster 5.8 Generic_117350-26 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-880.
I read the example in Grads documentation, I run the  script in fortran (attachment all files) to do the binary file, write the rain.ctl, next run in unix the comand 'stnmap' (stnmap -i rain.ctl), but I obtain an error:
Open Error:  Unexpected ENDVARS record
Was expecting 1 records.  Found 0.
  -- The invalid description file record is:
  -- endvars

  The data file was not opened.
File name is:  rain.ctl

This example is a training, because I will need to compare some graphics in Grads with stations data.
I hope that someone can help me.
