My mistake--I have been using Steve's "cnvgrib" all this time for
conversions--not wgrib2--just the alias on the executable was 'wgrib2'
causing confusion (sorry Elizabeth).

Usage: cnvgrib [-h] {-g12|-g21|-g22}
               [{-p0|-p2|-p31|-p32|-p40000|-p40010}] ingribfile outgribfile

with -g21 --> grib2 to grib1
