problem in starting grads on windows xp on laptop

Dear users,
        After a lot of experiment on windowx xp machine i am trying to run grads on windows xp , my both windows are opening in the grads when when i am opening the grads ,but when i am trying to open some ctl file it is saying ENDVARS staatment is not found ,,some timme is is giving error binary data file not opened ,,when i tryed same software on diffrent laptop having same windows xp ,,it is opening ctl file withour any error and giving the results ,,What can be the possible error for this type of problem ,is any body has faced this type of error previously ,any help is much appreciated,when i downloded some netcdf file from internet and opened usinf gradsnc grads is opening that file and ploting .
