Regarding HDF-EOS Files

Hello All,
I have one hdf_eos file.
I opened grads by "gradshdf" command line then the file is opened by 'xdfopen' as well as 'sdfopen'.I am getting the error as "file is not openning and X dimension is not varying"
What may be the possible causes and how can i resolve this problem ??
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
