Instructions on joining the list, sending msgs and *unsubscribing*
(bolded for other folks) is available at:

   http://grads.iges.org/grads/users.html

If your friend did follow those instructions, it's possible he or she
had a typo in the address.  The error msg you include suggests your
friend tried to join "gradsuser" when it should be "gradsusr".
