*)May you have wrongly written starting point, number
  of points in 'xdef' OR 'ydef' in .ctl file.

syntax for xdef,ydef is:

xdef <number of points> linear <starting number>
<resolution/increment>

ydef <number of points> linear <starting number>
<resolution/increment>

...(You can use either linear OR levels)...

***)Just you concentrate on 'xdef' and 'ydef'.
