RH/Heat Index calculations

All,

I have a station data file that I am using to plot regional temperatures and
dewpoints.  I was curious if anyone knew of a way to plot derived elements
from Temp and Dewpoint (such as RH, and Heat Index). I attempted to define a
new variable for both of these, followed by the proper calculations.
However,  I came across an error stating that variables could not be defined
with station data types.  Does anyone have any idea how I might be able to
work around this?  Would it be possible to "create" a variable for RH/Ht
Index when I'm writing out the binary file initially, then simply plot this?

Thoughts?
