What you're asking for is a 5-yr template option, which GrADS does not  
have. At this point, your best bet will be to use one of the netcdf  
operators ( http://nco.sourceforge.net ) to break your files into  
annual pieces and then use the yearly template options.

At some point during the development of version 1.9, a decadal template  
was added, and beginning with 1.9b4 there will also be an option to  
template on a user-specified string. These options are now documented  
(with examples) in http://iges.org/grads/gadoc/templates.html .

A final comment on your descriptor file: using the templating option  
with xdfopen is known to lead to core dumps. If you're running 1.9b3,  
you might want to consider using the 'dtype netcdf' option instead. And  
there's no need to alias the variable name (pr=>pr) if you're not  
changing it to something else.
